Relevant book

Extremely relevant book for children to understand the experiences of people who have had to leave their home land for various reasons.

Gorgeous book

This is such a lovely book. Not only is it beautifully illustrated but it’s written in such a way that it gets a harrowing story across without being too scary for smaller children. The way it focuses on the experience told through a child’s eyes makes it as magical as it is sad, and it’s a brilliant way to teach children about refugees and having compassion for others. I think it should be in every school and library. Would recommend :)

Fantastic book

This is a beautifully written book, which encouraged a really good conversation with my 6 year old and 9 year old. The illustrations provide a wonderful background. I am looking forward to re-reading it with my children. Would recommend over and over again.

A poetic tale of strength and hope.

This is a very compassionate tale that I think will help children see themselves represented in books as well as helping others to understand the experience of the displaced.

Sonia has such a poetic style of writing without being too cliche, and the illustrator has done a terrific job of bringing her words to life.

It looks stunning on my shelf and I'm so proud to say my talented cousin is a published author! 💕
